Habitat – Native to South and Southeast Asia, China and Australasia, while the distribution area extends from Pakistan via India, Sri Lanka and southern China to Taiwan, the Philippines.

Habit – Evergreen shrub or small tree that typically grows to a height of about 2-7 meters (6.5-23 feet). Its habit is generally bushy and rounded, with dense foliage.

Bark – Smooth and grayish-brown when young, becoming rougher and darker with age. It may develop small cracks or fissures as the plant matures.

Leaves – Compound, alternate, and glossy green. Each leaf is composed of 3-9 leaflets, which are lanceolate to ovate in shape, with pointed tips and smooth margins. The leaflets are arranged in an opposite pattern along the leaf axis, giving the appearance of pinnate leaves.

Inflorescence – Clusters of small, white flowers. These flowers are typically arranged in terminal or axillary cymes, which are branched clusters where the central flower opens first, followed by the lateral ones.

Flower – Small, white, and highly fragrant. Each flower has five petals and a central cluster of stamens with yellow anthers.
